YAE COVID-19 Impact survey
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the Young Academy of Europe sought to better understand the impact of the pandemic on the research and careers of young researchers. The information provided in the survey also helped us evaluate any potential differences between the impact of the pandemic on researchers at various career stages. This research took place in the context of the European project CALIPER: Linking research and innovation for gender equality.
The results from the survey were published as a Nature Career Column in July 2021, with the title “Science needs a new reward and recognition system“. The article can be found following this link. The anonymised dataset is available here, and is also shared at Open Research Europe.
YAE MEMBERS SURVEY
In 2018, we conducted a survey of our membership along with other excellent early-career researchers. Our aim was to better understand the varied paths and challenges we all face, and to provide input to decision-makers that affect our careers.
The results of the survey were published as a Nature Career Column in June 2019, with the title “‘I’ll work on it over the weekend’: high workload and other pressures faced by early-career researchers”, receiving wide media coverage. The article can be found following this link.
